When speaking about winning her first gold medal from her first international martial arts competition, soon-to-be sixth grader Annie Shen said, "I was so happy and proud when I stood on the podium receiving my gold medal and heard our national anthem!" When she was asked about her next goal, she smiled and answered "I want to win more medals!" Annie, a Livingston resident, is a member of the U.S. wushu team, and represented the United States in the 11th Pan-American Wushu Championships. She recently won a gold medal in the Junior Female Spear event, also known as "Qiangshu."
