Sanford Gilson, 68, Dies on November 15

Sanford Howard Gilson died at the age of 68 on Saturday, November 15. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, November 20, at Layton Funeral Home in Bedminster. Born in Newark, Mr. Gilson was raised in Livingston and lived in Long Valley before moving to Bedminster. He was employed as an information technology specialist by Guy Carpenter and Company in its Morristown office. Surviving Mr. Gilson are his wife, Nancy; a daughter, Kendra Gussin and her husband, Christopher; three grandchildren; and his sister, Renee Gilson. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Cancer Research Institute at cancerresearch.org.

Sandra Augenblick Succumbs at Home

Sandra Augenblick died in her West Orange home on Sunday, November 16. Services were held on November 18 at Bernheim-Apter-Kreitzman Suburban Funeral Chapel in Livingston. Raised in South Orange, Mrs. Augenblick lived in Livingston before moving to West Orange ten years ago. She was a member of Congregation B'nai Jeshurun and Mountain Ridge Country Club. The former wife of Harry Augenblick, Stanley B. Hausman and Robert R. Fanburg, she is survived by her children, John and Toby Fanburg, Susan and Richard Morganstein; stepchildren, Bruce and Barbara Hausman; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to the Sandra Augenblick Memorial Fund, c/o Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ.

Mass on Friday For Carmine Orciuoli

Carmine B. Orciuoli, 72, died on Monday, November 17. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, today, Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be offered at St. Philomena’s Church in Livingston on Friday at 10 a.m. Born in Newark, Mr. Orciuoli lived in Livingston for 38 years before moving to Union 11 years ago. He was a commercial tire salesman for many years for Goodyear and BF Goodrich. He retired from Custom Bandag, Elizabeth, in 2002. He also had served in the National Guard from 1962 to 1968. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, JoAnn; a son, Mark, and his wife, Deena; his daughter, Kim Panes; and six grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Josephine Orciuoli. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce De Leon Boulevard, Miami, Florida 33134.

Funeral Services For Irwin Jordan

Irwin Jordan, 88, died on October 28. Services were held on Thursday October 30, at B’nai Abraham Memorial Park in Union. Raised in Newark, NJ, Mr. Jordan resided in Livingston with his wife of 65 years, Rhona. A veteran of World War II and a graduate of Rutgers University, he owned Jordan Jewelers, a three-generation family business in Newark for 60 years. In addition to his wife Rhona, Mr. Jordan is survived by his three children, Arlene (and Dr. Andrew) Brafman of West Orange; Bruce (and Lauren) Jordan of Boca Raton, Forida; and Nancy (and Dr. Howard) Silberstein of Rochester, NewYork; seven grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

Stanley Greenberg, 85, Dies in West Orange

Former Livingston resident Stanley Greenberg of West Orange died on Tuesday, October 28, at Brighton Gardens in West Orange. Born in the Bronx, New York, Mr. Greenberg lived in Union, Irvington, Maplewood, Livingston, and Boca Raton, Florida. He moved to West Orange two years ago. Mr. Greenberg served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was self-employed as a certified public accountant. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Greenberg; two daughters, Marcy Rittweger of Florida, and Judy Wolff and her husband, Bruce, of Livingston; one son, Stuart Geenberg and his wife, Ellen, of Westfield; and four grandchildren.

Graveside Services For Lois Naroden

Lois (Kartsen) Naroden, 79, died on November 4 at Emeritus at Hillsborough. Graveside services were held yesterday, Wednesday, at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Iselin. Born in Kearny, Mrs. Naroden had lived in Livingston before moving to Hillsborough. She had been a secretary for Prudential Insurance in Newark for 15 years. Predeceased by her husband, Erwin, in 2001, Mrs. Naroden is survived by her three sons, Alan and his wife, Iris; Samuel and Jerome; and five grandchildren.

Caroline "Carrie" Leo died at the age of 96 on November 1. Services and burial were private. Born in Orange, where she lived for most of her life before moving to Livingston in 2006, Miss Leo was a parishioner of St. John's Roman Catholic Church. Angelica De Guzman Dies at Inglemoor

Angelica Agustin De Guzman died at Inglemoor Nursing Home at the age of 90 on Saturday, October 25. A Mass will be offered at St. Rose of Lima Church in Short Hills at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, October 30. Born in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija, Philippines, Mrs. De Guzman lived in Basking Ridge for several years before moving to Livingston six years ago. Prior to her retirement, she was employed during the 1990s as a clerk for the Newark Housing Authority. Before coming to the U.S., she had been a pharmacist in the Philippines for many years. A member of the St. Rose of Lima Church, Mrs. De Guzman was predeceased by her husband, Fortunato, and her daughter, Concepcion. She is survived by her children, Angelita Dunne, Florinda Magsakay, and Romeo and Victor De Guzman; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
