The Arts Council of Livingston (ACL) has been soliciting over 100 art submissions from artists in and around town for a community project, “Livingston: The Seat of Creativity.” Photographs of these art pieces will be placed on benches across Livingston Avenue.
Jan and Raime Press have taken photos of the 30 artworks chosen and Perry Crimi of Vital Signs will wrap the photos, transferred to aluminum, in clear weather-resistant vinyl for display on benches throughout town. The next step is to securely affix the photos to the benches and is anticipated to be done without damaging the benches.
“The projected timetable is on track. The display will run from Memorial Day through the fall,” Barbara Sax, president of the ACL, said.
A parallel display of the original artwork will be shown at the Municipal Building, 357 South Livingston Avenue, starting Thursday, June 8, and closing Tuesday, June 27. The public is welcome to an opening reception at the Municipal Building on June 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
