“Thank you so much Barry Shapiro and the Vero Beach volunteers and donors for blessing us at the Willing Heart Community Care Center,” said Willing Heart Community Care Center (WHCCC) volunteer Lisa Cherokee Raine Booker. “Our recipient families look forward to your generous donation every year. It’s greatly appreciated.”
Livingston Philanthropies, Inc. (LPI) recently received another weighty shipment of new socks from the Florida initiative. Many went to Booker and her volunteer colleagues at WHCCC for distribution to constituencies needing immediate assistance.
I graduated from Livingston High School in 1969 along with Barry Shapiro and about 621 others. Each year, Shapiro and the Vero Beach Sock Drive collect thousands of pairs of socks to provide for our poorest citizens.
LPI thanks the Vero Beach Sock Drive for their kind, annual donation. Its efforts help us provide for the homeless and families living below the poverty line. Both the WHCCC and Newark Emergency Services For Families (NESF) were recipients of its kindness and care.
Amina Bey, executive director at NESF and Newark’s Weequahic Family Success Center added: “Thanks for always looking out for us, this time with badly needed socks.”
The success of Livingston Philanthropies’ initiatives, now in our 12th year of service, continues to be due to Livingston. Even when Livingston relocates to Florida.
Visit LPI’s website at njhomeless.org. It includes video and photos thanks to Livingston’s Allison Eglow, our talented website designer. Contributions can be handled directly on PayPal at paypal.me/njhomeless without having a personal PayPal account.
