Livingston resident Brian Tevlin, co-captain of the Notre Dame men’s lacrosse team, scored the winning goal to send the team to the finals. Tevlin then scored the go-ahead goal in that game to defeat Duke University and claim the team’s first NCAA Division 1 championship.
Tevlin started playing with the Junior Lancers Lacrosse Club in second grade, while attending Hillside School. He went on to Seton Hall Prep in West Orange, where he played at the varsity level for all four years of high school. As a freshman at Yale University in 2018, Tevlin and the Bulldogs earned their first NCAA Championship in men’s lacrosse program history.
After graduating from Yale last May and serving as the captain of the Men’'s Lacrosse team in New Haven, Tevlin was recruited to play his fifth year of eligibility in South Bend, Indiana for Notre Dame University. He received his master’s degree in business analytics (MSBA) last week at a private ceremony held at the Navy-Marine Corp Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland, prior to leading his team to a 12-9 win against Johns Hopkins in the quarterfinal round of the NCAADivision 1 Lacrosse Tournament.
Earlier in May, Tevlin was drafted tenth overall into the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL), where he will soon join the Redwoods.
