My work with Livingston Philanthropies, Inc. (LPI) places me with our very poorest citizens who struggle to feed their families every day.
The respected Pew Research Center tells us that “economic inequality, whether measured through the gaps in income or wealth between richer and poorer households, continues to widen.”
There are multiple reasons for the growing disparity between the “haves” and “have-nots” which are far too weighty to discuss here.
Some of us are fortunate to have the means to enjoy huge displays of food and other amenities that life offers. Yet so many homeless and families living below the poverty line can only dream of such plenty. Why? Clearly, that’s not for me to answer. Let’s add it to the list of mind-bogglers we continue to face in contemporary life.
