Editor’s Note: This week, Jeff Friedman, founder and CEO of Livingston Philanthropies, Inc. (LPI), explains, in his own words, how the organization works with neighboring towns to supply food for those in need.

For some two years, Livingston’s contributions to Livingston Philanthropies, Inc. (LPI) have funded monthly fresh produce and fruit purchases for partner Newark Emergency Services For Families (NESF) Community Grocery Giveaway events. LPI is pleased to report that only one month was missed during this period due to a temporary lack of appropriate funding.
Amina Bey, executive director at NESF and trusted distribution partner, said it best: “The produce donated by Livingston Philanthropies has become a staple of our Monthly Community Grocery Giveaway at Newark Emergency Services for Families (NESF). Residents are unable to afford fresh fruits and vegetables. And frankly, neither can our organization.”
She continued, “The rising cost of food, along with the rising number of residents in need, prohibits our agency from being able to afford fresh produce for the hundreds of families we serve. These generous donations allow NESF to help provide nutritional meals for families throughout Essex County.”
To support this vital LPI initiative and our myriad of altruistic projects providing for the homeless and families living below the poverty line, please visit our website at njhomeless.org or paypal.me/njhomeless. It’s important to note that a personal PayPal account is not needed to immediately help LPI provide for families in need right now.
