The Livingston Police Department responded to multiple reports of crimes committed to unlocked Mercedes-Benz vehicles in town last weekend.
At 9:55 a.m. on Sunday, July 9, officers responded to a VirginiaAvenue residence on a report of a burglary to a vehicle in the overnight hours.
Upon arrival, officers were met by the victim, who advised that they were notified of an attempted transaction on one of their credit cards. This led to the discovery that their Mercedes-Benz had been burglarized in the overnight hours while parked in the driveway.
The vehicle had been left unlocked and the victim’s wallet was stolen.
At 10:21 a.m. later that day, officers responded to a Baker Road residence on a report of a stolen vehicle.
Upon arrival officers were met by the victim, who said that his 2022 Mercedes-Benz was stolen from the driveway in the overnight hours. The vehicle had been left unlocked with the key fob inside of it.
The vehicle was located a short time later and recovered in Newark.
The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating both cases.
