Burning Odors

A painting contractor smelled a burning odor on the second floor and attic area of 5 Cornerstone Drive on Friday, July 14. The air conditioner unit was turned off and the air conditioner contractor was notified.

The homeowner of 179 West Mt. Pleasant Avenue had burned “construction materials” in a fire pit, according to the fire department. Fire officials advised the homeowner that only wood is permitted in a fire pit, and that the fire pit needed to be moved farther away from residence. The homeowner put the fire out and moved the pit.

On Saturday, July 15, low air in a sprinkler system at 644 West Mt. Pleasant Avenue activated the alarm system, which had not been reset. Later that day, there was a report of a fire alarm activation by a struck pull station at 483 South Livingston Avenue. The system was reset.

No issues were found in residences at 6 Lockhern Court and 7 Regent Street when their fire alarm transmissions were activated on Saturday.
