Livingston Philanthropies, Inc. (LPI) volunteers are partnering with former New Jersey governor Jim McGreevey’s New Jersey Re-entry Corporation (NJRC). NJRC is a non-profit agency with a social mission “to remove all barriers to employment for citizens returning from incarceration.” LPI provides toiletries, gift bags, clothing and personal items – such as special footwear – needed by program graduates so they can successfully meet new job requirements. “LPI volunteers were there behind Newark’s Penn Station when Governor McGreevey and staff counseled newly released former inmates arriving by prison bus,” notes LPI CEO Jeff Friedman. “Stuffed backpacks were distributed to all, which included items funded by Livingston neighbors and donated by LPI.” Visit LPI’s website at njhomeless.org to learn more. Shown here, McGreevey is interviewed by NJ Spotlight News about the program.
