ELY CEMETERY REPAIRS: This past week, the Livingston Historical Society, working in concert with Marcelli Construction, made necessary repairs to the stone wall outside of Ely Cemetery on Hillside Avenue. The cemetery has stood for 250 years. and the stone wall was rebuilt in 1864 when the cemetery was extended to it’s current size. Much of the material used in the construction was obtained by blasting rocks behind the old red barn on the Ely Homestead. The historic cemetery is open to the public every Memorial Day and Labor Day. The Livingston Historical Society invites and encourages people to visit the cemetery in a few weeks to learn about some of the people who shaped Livingston.
