Muriel Levin, of West Caldwell, died Friday, August 4. She was 94.
She was the mother of Phyllis Levin Ingber (Rick) and David Levin (Kim). She was predeceased by her husband of almost 60 years, Julian Levin.
Mrs. Levin was born on October 7,1928 and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She graduated from Battin High School in Elizabeth and went on to study Spanish at the Latin American Institute in NewYork City, working as a bilingual secretary.
She met her husband, Julian, when she was 19 and they married shortly after her 21st birthday.After living in Stuyvesant Village, Irvington during the early years of her marriage, the couple moved to Livingston where they raised their two children. Mrs. Levin resided in Livingston for nearly 57 years before moving to Crane’s Mill in 2013.
She attended Kean University, graduating with a bachelor of arts in education followed by a master of arts, becoming a reading specialist. She taught school in Livingston for many years, elementary through high school.
The family suggests making contributions to Hadassah, Jewish National Fund,Alzheimer’sAssociation or to the charity of one’s choice.
A graveside service for Muriel was held on Monday, August 7, at B’nai Abraham Cemetery in Union.
