Last week, Livingston Police officers recovered two stolen vehicles and investigated an attempted home burglary.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle
At8:21 a.m. on Thursday,October 26, Livingston Police officers stopped a 2005 Cadillac DeVille on Shrewsbury Drive that had been reported stolen out of Irvington.
An investigation led to the arrest of the driver, Carlton Mayfield, 54, of East Orange. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was charged with receiving stolen property (the vehicle) and released on a summons.
Attempted Burglary
At 12:20 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, the resident of a Melrose Drive home reported an attempted burglary into both her vehicle and her home in the early morning hours.
The homeowner was able to see on surveillance video that the suspects pulled up to her residence and attempted to enter a vehicle in the driveway, and then went around the rear of the residence and attempted to enter the home. Both attempts were unsuccessful by the suspects and they fled the scene.
The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating the matter.
Landscaping Truck Theft
At 8:04 a.m. on Monday, October 30, officers responded to a Naylon Place business on a report of a stolen landscape truck. The business owner advised that his truck containing his landscape equipment had been stolen sometime over the weekend.
The truck was recovered a short time later in Newark, with some of the equipment stolen. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating the matter.
