Livingston resident Erica Goldring was an insurance defense attorney before giving birth to her son. She expected to go back to work, but found that her priorities had changed. The decision wasn’t easy, but Goldring decided to take a pay cut and entered a new chapter in her life as a mother.
“I said to myself, ‘I’m taking my maternity leave, and I’m definitely going to be back. I put deposits on day cares. I was like, I’m doing this. And then, my baby was born,” she said.
Having a hard time adjusting to this huge change in her life, Goldring found comfort in cooking for her son.
“A big part of my identity was wrapped around me being a lawyer, a leader, and being part of this firm that has a good reputation. And then, all of a sudden, I was just a mom,” Goldring said. “So, I’m finding my new identity. In the midst of kind of trying to figure out this transition, I started cooking for my baby when he was able to start eating solids. I always loved to cook, and I’ve had a cooking Instagram for years.”
The inspiration to create a food company, ComboJams, soon followed. The product is a low-sugar, whole-fruit jam with undetectable hidden vegetables.
Goldring said that ComboJams can give parents a healthier option that their children will enjoy eating; she said that it is a healthier option for adults, as well.
“There’s a big struggle for parents to get their kids to eat their vegetables. The product makes parents’lives easier, and can help their children to eat their vegetables,” she said, “Parents will have peace at mealtime, because your child won’t be fighting with you about eating vegetables, because they will like the way this tastes.”
Goldring will be launching her startup with her ComboJams flavor, “Spinberry”, which is blueberry jam with hidden spinach.
