Livingston Police Investigating Vehicle Burglary, Stolen Package

Burglary to Vehicle

At 10:54a.m. onTuesday, January 16, Livingston officers responded to the East Cedar Exxon gas station located at 327 East Northfield Road on a report of a stolen computer tablet from a vehicle.

Officers arrived and were met by the victim, who parks his business vehicles at the location. It was found that one of the vehicles was entered and a smart tablet was stolen from inside the vehicle. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating the matter.

Package Theft

At 7:46 p.m. on Tuesday, January 16, officers responded to a Mt. Pleasant Parkway residence on a report of a stolen package from the front porch.

Officers arrived and met with the homeowner, who advised them of the stolen package and provided surveillance video of the suspect and suspect vehicle. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating the matter.

Shoplifting

Police officers responded to multiple reports of shoplifting in the past week.

At 10:30a.m.on Saturday, January 20, officers responded to Bottle King, 343 West Mt. Pleasant Avenue, on a report of a shoplifting the night prior.

Officers met with store staff, who said that four suspects entered the store and shoplifted over $5,000 in high end liquor. The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating the matter.

At 10 a.m. on Monday, January 22, a Livingston officer was patrolling the Livingston Mall and noticed a suspicious male in the parking lot that had been reported earlier by Macy’s loss prevention officers as possibly shoplifting.

A subsequent investigation by the officer found the suspect to be in possession of stolen merchandise from Macy’s. Alexander Govan, 31, of Newark, was arrested and transported to police headquarters. He was charged with receiving stolen property and released on a summons.
