Livingston Philanthropies Calls For Partners in “Green Initiative”

Last week, Livingston Philanthropies, Inc. (LPI) announced its new “Green Initiative,” with the goal of continuing and growing its fresh produce and fruit distribution to families experiencing extreme poverty and living on the streets.

“LPI has been providing this otherwise unavailable sustenance to those without means to do so for themselves and their families, working with long-time distribution partner Newark Emergency Services For Families (NESF) through their monthly ‘Community Grocery Giveaway’ events,” explains LPI founder and chief executive officer Jeff Friedman. “It’s Livingston’s constant contributions that continue to make it all happen for about 2½ years.”

NESF executive director Amina Bey discussed the agency’s recent grocery giveaway. “Today was a day!” she said “Our Monthly Community Grocery Giveaway was at pandemic levels with the number of residents that came out. Although we’re honored to serve, it’s sad there are so many people who needed to stand in line in the freezing cold just to feed their families. Many came with babies in tow. Once again, we are grateful for the contributions of Jeff Friedman and Livingston Philanthropies, Inc.”

“The Green Initiative,” LPI’s first formal fundraising campaign, will reach out to both Livingston service organizations and regional foundations to meet its goal of sustaining regular life-sustaining deliveries to NESF. “We will also be able to expand monthly produce donations to LPI’s newest distribution partner, Temple Rock Community Church of Newark (TRCCN),” added Friedman. “I invite Livingston neighbors, service and religious organizations to call me directly at 973-533-9336 or contact me at [email protected] to discuss the ‘Green Initiative’ and ways in which we can partner.”

Contributions may be handled on our website at njhomeless.org, on PayPal at paypal.me/njhomeless by visiting our updated website at njhomeless.org and by mail to LPI, 8 Country Club Rd., Livingston, NJ 07039. LPI volunteers appreciate our generous donors.
