Police Respond to Home Burglary

Burglary to Residence

At 7:51 p.m. on Wednesday, March 27, Livingston officers responded to an Aspen Drive residence on a report of a burglary alarm.

Officers arrived and saw that forced entry was made into the home through a rear door. A further investigation revealed that the suspect’s main focus was the master bedroom and the homeowners were not home at the time of the burglary.

The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating the matter.

Possession of Stolen Property At 4:07 p.m. on Friday, March 29, two Livingston Detectives observed an enclosed U-Haul trailer with an out of state license plate parked at the Livingston Mall.

A further investigation revealed that the U-Haul had been reported stolen out of Old Bridge. The person in possession of the trailer, Ismael Chitou, 49, of Livingston was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property. Chitou was given a return court date at the Essex County courthouse and released.

A few hours later, at 6:21 p.m. on March 29, a Livingston officer conducted a traffic stop on a Honda HR-V registered in New York. The vehicle’s license plate was reported stolen out of New York City. The vehicle was operated by Shantaye Fuller, 31, of Newark.

Fuller was driving on a suspended driver’s license and was in possession of open alcohol containers inside the vehicle. She was placed under arrest and charged on a summons with receiving stolen property and multiple moving violations, with a return court date set at Livingston Municipal Court.
