LHS Tennis Wins Lead to 12-9 Record

The Livingston varsity tennis team won three of its four matches, yielding a 12-9 record.

The Lancers first beat Seton Hall Prep 5-0. Dennis Wang, Dhruv Anantaraman, and Julian Turovets won straight set singles matches. In the doubles, Jake Hershkin and Arjun Bansal won first doubles, while Jordan Bender teamed with Ryan Einzig at second doubles for straight set victories.

Livingston then played Summit, winning once again with a final score of 5-0. Jacob Goldstein and Jared Melamed won their second doubles match along with Hershkin and Bansal, who won first doubles. Wang, Anantaraman, and Turovets won the singles matches all in straight sets.

The Lancers also played East Brunswick and lost 3-2. The quarterfinal match against East Brunswick featured three third set match tiebreaks in the Newark Academy Invitational Tennis Tournament. Anantaraman won second singles, 6-0, 5-7, 10-6, but the Lancers lost both doubles. Hershkin and Bansal lost first doubles, 6-3, 3-6, 8-10, and Goldstein and Melamed lost second doubles, 1-6, 6-4, 4-10. Wang won first singles, while Turovets lost third singles.

In their final game of the week, Livingston beat 12th ranked Delbarton 3-2 in a consolation match. Wang and Anantaraman each won all four of their matches, while Hershkin and Bansal won first doubles, Turovets lost third singles, and Goldstein and Melamed dropped second doubles, 7-5, 1-6, 5-10.
