At 3:02 a.m. on Monday, May 20, Livingston officers responded to a Hearthstone Terrace home on a report of an active burglary. Prior to officers ’ arrival, suspects fled the scene in the homeowner’s 2021 BMW X5.

A further investigation revealed that the suspects gained access to the home through a basement window and obtained the keys to the BMW.

The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating the matter.

Tablets Stolen

Two iPads were stolen from the Cooperman Barnabas Ambulatory C are Center on South Orange Avenue last month.

At 2:34 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, an employee called Livingston Police to report a theft of two iPads

An employee had left the devices in a communal locker area at the end of April, and did not notice they were missing until that date. While the devices were locked in a closet with cameras fixed on them, the recordings were deleted after two weeks.

Using the location services on the devices, detectives tracked the iPads to West Point, New York and Speedwell Avenue in Morristown. Using these general areas and putting the serial numbers into the database in case they are flagged for a sale, detectives are now investigating the incident.

Money Stolen From Car

A woman had several thousands of dollars’ worth of cash and merchandise stolen from her car when she was picking up her lunch earlier this week, Livingston Police said.

At about 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15, a woman parked in the Seymours lot to get lunch on her break from working with a cleaning service.

She left everything in her car but her phone, as she was planning to purchase her lunch with ApplePay. Later, when she returned to the car, she realized that a backpack containing valuable items had been stolen from the vehicle.

After questioning her cleaning crew, the woman contacted Livingston Police, who confirmed the theft. Allegedly stolen from the bag were $3,000 in cash, AirPods, credit cards, and miscellaneous paperwork, including her driver’s license and social security card.

The report did not state whether or not the car was locked when the bag was stolen. Livingston Police detectives continue to investigate the matter.
