Livingston Celebrates Holi

On Saturday, May 18, Sanskriti of NJ celebrated the Indian festival of Holi at the Livingston Oval. The event was open to all and hundreds of people attended the event.

On Saturday, May 18, Sanskriti of NJ celebrated the Indian festival of Holi at the Livingston Oval. The event was open to all and hundreds of people attended the event.

Holi is an Indian festival that celebrates the arrival of spring, love, and new life. It is a colorful festival, with dancing, singing and throwing of mu lticolored powder on those who surround us! Outside of India, it is known as the “Festival of Colors.”

The event chairpersons were Swati Kala andRiddhimaMatai who, along with many community volunteers, planned, set up and executed the event. ADJ and Dholie (a player of a double sided barrel drum calledDhol) performed Holi themed Bollywood music while colors were scattered.

Children and adults played tug of war, family freeze dance, and participated
