Mount Throws Consecutive No-Hitters

The Livingston High School varsity softball team won two games this past week. In both games, senior pitcher Sophia Mount pitched no-hitters.

The Livingston High School varsity softball team won two games this past week. In both games, senior pitcher Sophia Mount pitched no-hitters.

The Lancers beat Caldwell with a final score of 7-0. Mount threw her second no-hitter of the season, allowing five walks while striking out nine. Senior Caitlin Hernandez and freshman Alex Altieri each recorded three hits; Hernandez scored twice; and Altieri finished with three RBIs, including her two-run home run to center in the sixth inning. Collecting two hits each were; freshman Val Dilanni; junior Olivia Melucci; senior Heather Downey; and freshman Abby Kiem.

LHS’ softball team then took part in the NJSIAA tournament, Group IV North 1. The Lancers defeated #16 seed Clifton, 16-0, in five innings, as Mount threw her second consecutive no-hitter, and her third of the season. Mount dominated in the five innings allowed, striking out eight and walking only two. Players who had multiple hits for the day were Dilanni, Altieri, sophomore Tvisha Reikhy, and junior Maddie Rothfeld. Rothfeld knocked in two with a home run to left in the first inning. Dilanni knocked in four runs and sophomore Sophie Rothfeld had three RBIs.
