Shiv’s Third Eye Hosting Pride Picnic This Sunday

Shiv’s Third Eye, a nonprofit organization co-founded in memory of Livingston Public School student Shiv Kulkami, has announced that the third annual Pride Picnic will be held this Sunday, June 2, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Doris Beck Gazebo at the Livingston Memorial Oval.

Through a day of activities and entertainment, the picnic aims to empower and uplift LGBTQ+ youth and support the community.

Led by art therapist Rachel Jaslow, attendees may participate in mindful art sessions, including rock and face painting, cookie decoration, and a community art project. New this year, there will also be a henna stall.

There will be multiple local youth bands performing, as well as a debut performance of an adult band, “Side Hustle,” featuring Jen Raz, Melissa Messer, Dan Katz, and Adam Baker.

“In My Own Words” storytelling will allow teengers to share their personal stories and lived experiences.

Billy Ward from Spirit House will lead a “Grounding Breath” session.

Boonton Pride will also have a special project at the event, titled “Raise Your Pride.”

Additional entertainment will include badminton, volleyball, and frisbee.

There will be food and ice cream available for purchase. Pride Month Card 2024, a fundraiser for Shiv’s Third Eye that provides exclusive discounts and promotions at local businesses throughout the month of June, will also be sold at the picnic.

At 4:15 p.m., local leaders from the Township Council, Board of Education, the Livingston Committee for Diversity and Inclusion (LCDI), and clergy will speak in support of LGBTQ+ community.

The event will conclude with a solidarity walk around the Oval at 5 p.m., followed by a flag raising ceremony at Town Hall.
