Will Hold Service For Juanita Turner

Juanita “Nita” L. Turner, a former longtime resident of Livingston, died on Thursday, December 15 at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was 62 years old.

Juanita “Nita” L. Turner, a former longtime resident of Livingston, died on Thursday, December 15 at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was 62 years old.

Following her high school graduation, she worked as a medical office receptionist in Charlottesville, Virginia. After brief periods in Pittsburgh and Boston, she resided in Livingston for over 30 years before retiring in 2020 to Kihei, Maui, Hawaii.

Mrs. Turner was a cancer survivor and left a legacy that includes the MichaelA. and Juanita L. Turner Tidewater Student-Athlete Scholarship at the University of Virginia.

She is survived by her husband, Michael; her daughter, Michelle; her sister, Deborah (Gabe) DiPaolantonio; her brother, David (Betsey) Foxwell; her brother-in-law, Fred Turner; and her sister-in-law, Joycelyn Harris. She was predeceased by her brother, Clinton.

Memorial services will include a Celebration of Life on Thursday, January 12, at Princess Anne Chapel in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The family will hold visitation on Wednesday, January 11, at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home in Virginia Beach.

Expressions with flowers are welcome. Donations in Mrs. Turner’s memory may be made to the UVA Health Cancer Center (Patient Care Fund), the Make-A-Wish Foundation, or the Pacific Whale Foundation.
