Earlier this week, Livingston resident Inna Yelisevich filed her nominating petition to seek election to the Livingston Public Schools Board of Education. Below is a statement provided by Yelisevich announcing her candidacy A proud 15-year resident of Livingston and mother of six current and future LPS-educated children, Inna Yelisevich has officially filed her candidacy to the Livingston Board of Education on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
Inna brings a passion for education built on her inspiring story of immigration, education, family growth and successful integration in the United States.
Inna’s family arrived in the US in the summer of 1991, right before the collapse of the Soviet Union. Arriving with nothing, her family settled in New York, where Inna graduated from Forest Hills High School in Queens, followed by a bachelor’s degree in accounting and information systems from Queens College, City University of New York, with a minor in economics.
After becoming a mom, Inna searched for the best place to raise a growing family that will provide opportunities and great education for her children, bringing her to Livingston, where over the years she had become a leader within a vibrant community.
Inna has spent 18 years in various corporate roles, honing her management and people skills. These include ten years and eight years at (Continued on Page A-8) the global accounting firms of PwC and KPMG, respectively. In those firms, she worked in risk management and as a compliance manager, both of which are highly relevant to the duties required of the BOE. Most recently she has transitioned into real estate, driven by a commitment to invest more of her time, passion, and energy into ensuring the positive growth of her community.
Inna has spearheaded local initiatives to facilitate learning, growth and friendship, including:
• Founding Chess and Bagels, a popular multigenerational weekly event held at the Community Center, bringing chess enthusiasts from ages four to 84 to partake in weekly play.
• Establishing the Livingston Ski Club, which is open to all ages, and which has been highly popular in its two years of operation.
• Bringing the Scripps Spelling Bee to Riker Hill Elementary School.
Inna has been deeply involved in various roles as a Livingston school mom. She has participated in fundraising for the HSA, volunteered for art appreciation classes, the media center, and many multicultural nights. Throughout recent years, Inna has been a consistent and active participant in Board of Education and DEI meetings.
Inna has declared it her mission as a prospective member of the BOE to foster progress, unity, and support within Livingston’s educational community. She is committed to advancing innovative and effective educational practices that prepare students for the future. By promoting unity, she aims to create an inclusive and collaborative environment where every student, teacher, and parent feels valued and heard, and will advocate for the necessary resources and policies that ensure our schools thrive and that we build a stronger, more cohesive, and forward-thinking educational system.
