Richard G. Cashion

Richard G. Cashion was born in Orange, NJ, to parents Richard H. and Martha P. Cashion.

He graduated in 1953 from Columbia High School, Maplewood, NJ. He graduated from Rutgers College, Rutgers University of New Jersey in 1957 with a BA in economics.

Mr. Cashion worked for Prudential Insurance Company of America for 38 years in the company’s Newark and South Plainfield offices, retiring as Director of Agencies Compensation in 1995. While at Prudential he earned the FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute) designation, and was a member and Director of the LOMA (Life Office Management Association) Society of Greater New York.

He had a lifelong interest in antique cars and totally restored two 1953 Hudson automobiles. He was a member and past treasurer of the Northern NJ Chapter of NJACE (New Jersey Association of Corvair Enthusiasts); member and past president and treasurer of the Garden State Chapter of the Hudson-Essex-Terraplane Club; Life member of the H.E.T. Historical Society; and member of the Antique Automobile Club of America.

He was a member of the Rutgers AlumniAssociation and supporter of the New Jersey Symphony, the Metropolitan Orchestra of New Jersey and the Newark Museum of Art.

He is survived by his wife, Janet (Kapsol) Cashion; daughter, Susan E. Malizzi; sons, Steven F. Cashion and Richard H. Cashion II; and five grandchildren.

Donations honoring Dick’s memory may be made to the H.E.T. Historical Society.
