Police Recover Stolen Vehicle

A Staten Island man was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle in town earlier this week.

A Staten Island man was arrested for driving a stolen vehicle in town earlier this week.

At 11:15 a.m. on Monday, July 15, Livingston Police officers were alerted to a stolen motor vehicle that entered into Livingston’s jurisdiction.

The suspect vehicle, a blue Subaru Impreza with a New York registration, was located on East Mt. Pleasant Avenue near the intersection of Shrewsbury Drive. A motor vehicle stop was initiated by Livingston Police officers, who identified the driver of the vehicle as Walter Szwed, 67, of Staten Island, New York.

Szwed was subsequently arrested and transported to headquarters for processing. He was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle on a warrant and was lodged in the Essex County jail.
