Officers Respond To Shoplifting Incidents

Shoplifting Incidents

Livingston Police officers responded to two separate shoplifting reports at Nordstrom Rack last weekend.

At 3 p.m. on Friday, July 12, officers arrived at the store and met with Ibnrashad Muhammad, 28, of Maplewood, who was being detained by store loss prevention employees. Muhammadhadallegedly shoplifted approximately $200 worth of store merchandise.

Muhammad was placed under ar (Continued on Page A-6) rest and transported to headquarters for processing. He was charged with shoplifting and released on a summons with a returnable court date in Livingston Municipal Court.

Two days later, at 1:03 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, police returned to Nordstrom Rack on another shoplifting report. They met with Joseph Martinez, 28, of New York City. He was being detained by store loss prevention employees for allegedly shoplifting approximately $500 worth of store merchandise.

Martinez was placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing. He was charged with shoplifting and possession of an antishoplifting device. He was released on a summons with a returnable court date at the Essex County courthouse.
