Khanna Named BOE President; Khemka/Cohen Are Sworn In

The Livingston Board of Education swore in one new and one incumbent member, and appointed a new president and vice president at its January 3 reorganization meeting. The meeting was held in a hybrid format and may be viewed on the Livingston Public Schools Facebook page.

The Livingston Board of Education swore in one new and one incumbent member, and appointed a new president and vice president at its January 3 reorganization meeting. The meeting was held in a hybrid format and may be viewed on the Livingston Public Schools Facebook page.

Swearing In

New Board member Parul Khemka and incumbent member Seth Cohen were each sworn in at the meeting. Khemka thanked the people who supported her. “There are lots of people here who have supported this journey for me, and done so with wholehearted faith in my ability. I hope to stand up and I hope to be able to do what I have promised and always represent the parent community,” she said.

Cohen thanked the community for its continued support. “I just wanted to thank the community for giving me the opportunity to serve again,” he said. “And we have a lot of work to do and important work to do.”

New Leadership

Vineeta Khanna was appointed Board president and Pam Chirls was appointed vice president. They both were unanimously appointed.

Khanna shared her appreciation for the nomination. “I thank all of my Board colleagues for the support of my nomination to be president of the board for 2023. I immensely value and respect each one of you for your dedication and commitment to serve the community,” she said.

Superintendent Matt Block said he looks forward to working with Khanna. “We ’ ve worked together for the past couple of years and I know this is going to be a great partnership,” he said.

Blocksharedhis excitement about working with Chirls as well. “We’ve now officially worked together the longest, and [Chirls] does come to us with an amazing wealth of experience andknowledge of the schools and the town and how the board has worked over time,” he commented.
