Livingston High School’s bowling team wrapped up its regular season last week in a match against Seton Hall Prep.
Yu-Hsiang Kuo of Livingston has led the team throughout the season and continued with a 600 series consisting of 196, 205 and 199. He increased his average from 135 to 197 and was named the third best bowler in the league.
Kuo and teammate Matthew Lam were selected to the First Team All-Conference. In this contest, Lam shot a 191 and 172. Gabe Shulman bowled scores of 193 and 239. Nic Cheng rolled a 189, 172 and 182 while Rishabh Sinha had a pair of 168s.
Seton Hall’s John Cirelli led his team to victory over Livingston with a 727 series and his teammate KC Campbell rolled a 703.
State Sectional
In the NJSIAA State Sectional at Linden’s Jersey Lanes, Livingston was in first place after the first game. Cheng’s 223, Lam’s 197 andKuo’s 201 led the way to a 926 total. Then in the second game, the Lancers struggled with spares and only managed a 779. Though the third game ran similarly, Brady Ehrlich scored a 171 in the 768 total. Livingston finished in fifth place in the North 2-Group four Section.
County Championship
In the Essex County Championship and final team event of the season held on Monday, February 13, Lam rolled a 625 with a 248 and Sinha struck often with games of 220 and 206 for a 608 series. Both players advanced to the Individual Championship.
Kuo posted a 234 and Cheng had a 192. The Lancers took home the third-place trophy behind Seton Hall Prep and Belleville.
Boys’ Division
In the Individual Boys’ Division on Wednesday, February 15, Lam and Sinha missed the Step Ladder Final, placing sixth and ninth, respectively.
Girls’ Division
Sophomore Victoria Cheng entered in the Girls’Division and led all girls in average during the season at Hanover Lanes. She won the High GameAward with a 206 and the High Series Award with a 534. This outing advanced her to the Girl’s Individual Championship where she tossed a three-game series of 468 to become the number one seed.
For the Championship, Gabby Lucivero from Nutley had advanced from the fourth seed. Both girls were close until Victoria Cheng rolled a double strike and Lucivero missed her spare. Victoria Cheng claimed the Essex County Girls’ Championship with a 192-155 victory.
