Planning Board Meeting Canceled

The special meeting of the Livingston Planning Board that had been scheduled for Tuesday, August 20, was canceled hours before it was set to take place.

The special meeting of the Livingston Planning Board that had been scheduled for Tuesday, August 20, was canceled hours before it was set to take place.

Town officials said that the applicant, Esplanade Livingston, had asked for an adjournment earlier that day. As it was a special meeting, that case was the only item on the agenda, so the meeting was subsequently canceled.

When announcing the cancellation, the town noted that officials have worked diligently to get the applicant on the Planning Board schedule. A new date for the hearing is expected to be announced.

Esplanade is seeking approval to subdivide a portion of 8-10 Microlab Road (block 100, lot 15 on the town’s tax maps) and merge it with 550 West Mt. Pleasant Avenue (block 100, lot 16). Currently the site of the Westminster Hotel, Esplanade is seeking to create a new development lot for an inclusionary multifamily structure.

The structure is expected to be age restricted, according to an amendment to the Fair Share Housing agreement the town reached in 2023 to accommodate the planned development.

A related matter on the agenda would amend the previously approved site plan in order to relocate a ballfield belonging to nearby Lifetown.

The Planning Board is next scheduled to meet on Tuesday, September 3.
