Theft from Mailbox

On Tuesday, August 20, police received a report of a theft from a residential mailbox on Elmwood Drive the previous day.

According to police, on Monday, August 19, at approximately 3:54 p.m., a male was observed on residential surveillance footage breaking into a locked mailbox and removing all of the contents. The man was seen arriving in an unknown white SUV.

The incident is being investigated by the Detective Bureau.

Shoplifting and Altercation Livingston police responded to Macy’s in the Livingston Mall on Tuesday, August 20, at 3:38 p.m. on a report of shoplifting in the store, during which a male suspect was currently fighting with Loss Prevention personnel.

Upon officers’ arrival, the suspect, identified as Samaad Terrell, 30, of Newark, was seen actively resisting Loss Prevention officers. Police officers immediately placed Terrell under arrest and transported him to headquarters for processing. He was charged with robbery andpossession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.

A loss prevention officer was treated for a laceration to the right elbow.

Terrell was also found to have been linked to two other shoplifting incidents at Macy’s earlier in the week, and had eight active shoplifting related warrants. He was subsequently taken to Essex County Jail.

Shoplifting

That same day, Tuesday, August 20, at 7:46 p.m., Livingston officers responded to Nordstrom Rack on West Mt. PleasantAvenue on a report of two people actively shoplifting in the store.

Upon officers’ arrival, one suspect, identified as Kemarley Dennis Grange, 40, of East Orange, was found to be concealing in a backpack nine pairs of shoes with a total value of $512.70. A second suspect, Karyn M. Palmer-McKoy, 33, of Neptune, was found to have four active arrest warrants.

Both parties were placed under arrest and transported to headquarters for processing. Grange was charged with shoplifting and released on a summons with a returnable court date at the Livingston Municipal Court. Palmer-McKoy was released on her own recognizance by Newark Police, with a returnable court date at the Newark Municipal Court.
