Livingston held its annual September 11 Ceremony of Remembrance, honoring the victims and first responders of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The ceremony took place on the 23rd anniversary of the attacks at Livingston’s September 11 Memorial on the Oval. Shown above, Livingston Mayor Al Anthony addresses the audience, which includes family members of the seven Livingston residents who perished at the World Trade Center; representatives of Livingston’s veterans’ groups; and members of the township’s First Aid Squad, Fire Department, and Police Department. At right, Livingston township manager Barry Lewis reads the names of the seven Livingston residents who lost their lives at the World Trade Center as Brian Boyle of Livingston VFW Post 2856 tolls a bell for each name. Above, left, Livingston High School senior Taylor Dzama was selected by her history teacher, Ernie Cuneo, to read an essay about September 11. In one of the emotional high points of the ceremony, Dzama read her essay, “Reflections of 9/11,” about her uncle, John M. Pocher, who along with six other Livingston residents, was killed that day at the World Trade Center. Jerry Siskind Photos
