Woman Is Charged With Stealing Wallet

A West Orange woman is facing fraud charges after allegedly stealing a wallet from the counter of a business in town, Livingston Police said.

At 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, officers responded to the UPS Store at 184 South Livingston Avenue for a report of a stolen wallet.

Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who stated that she left her wallet on the assortment table and it was missing. A further investigation revealed, via closed-circuit television, that the victim’s wallet was stolen from the table.

Officers on scene recognized the suspect as Aliena Fowler, 19,ofWest Orange, as being the actor who had allegedly stolen the victim’s wallet.

Fowler was then located, placed under arrest, and transported to police headquarters forprocessing. She was charged with theft of movable property and her charge was placed on a summons with a returnable court date at the Essex County courthouse.

The Livingston Detective Bureau conducted a follow-up investigation and determined that Fowler had allegedly used the victim’s credit cards on three separate occasions after she stole the wallet. Fowler was additionally charged on a summons with three counts of use of a stolen credit card.
