Livingston’s Leaf Collection Program is currently underway, and will be continuing through early December.
Residents are reminded to keep leaves on the lawn near the curb and to only put them in the street, close to the curbline, during the dates specified for their Leaf Collection Section. Readers can determine their Leaf Collection Section by visiting livingstonnj.org/LeafSection.
Sunday, December 8, is the last day residents may put leaves in the street at the curb for pickup. Once the trucks have finished each neighborhood after December 8, they will not be back.
Important Reminders For Residents
Never put anything other than leaves out for leaf collection. Putting sticks, branches, plant matter, grass clippings, or anything else mixed in with the leaves can cause damage to the machinery and could result in someone being injured.
Keep leaves on the lawn adjacent to the curb until the dates when the section can put leaves in the street, as indicated on the 2024 Leaf Collection Program Schedule. Put them in the street only during the dates that are specified for each section.
The final date that paper-bagged leaves may be placed on the curb for pickup on all Essex County roads and State Highway Route 10 is Sunday, December 8. Bags may be picked up, free of charge, to those residents living on Essex County roads or State Highway Route 10, at the Public Works Garage, 235 South Livingston Avenue, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. Proof of address must be provided Any leaves put out in the street after Sunday, December 8, may not be picked up. Once the Leaf Collection Program ends, disposing of remaining leaves will be the responsibility of the property owner.
After the 2024 Leaf Collection Program ends, all leaves must be bagged and left for pickup with regular household garbage (along with all yard waste). Find all Leaf Collection information at livingstonnj.org/Leaves.
