Planning and preparations for the Livingston Interfaith Thanksgiving Service are underway. There will be performances from several choirs, inspirational speeches and great discussions with many of the Livingston Clergy at the event, which is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Sunday, November 24. It will be held at the Livingston Presbyterian Church, 271 W. Northfield Road.
“This is the event which unofficially kicks in the true holiday season for all religions,” saidorganizer Scott Maynard. “There will beperformances from several choirs, wonderful presentations from members of the community and fulfilling presentations from many of the religious leaders in our community.”
Maynard said that this event started in 2013, when Livingston celebrated its bicentennial anniversary.
“The committee responsible for running the celebration discovered a small event that was almost overlooked in past years. With the help of some funding for the celebration, a spectacular event was held at the previous Temple Emanu-El as a primary bicentennial event,” Maynard said. “There were so many people in attendance; the temple building was filled to capacity as well as the parking lots of the temple and the adjacent Presbyterian Church. The massive turnout, as well as the fantastic comments heard from all who attended, created the momentum to make this special program a yearly event. Inthepast 11 years, the Sunday before Thanksgiving became a day to celebrate the official start of the holiday season.”
Nonperishable food will be collected at the event in support of Livingston Ministries CHOW and Livingston Neighbors Helping Neighbors Food Pantry.
