LHS Bowling Team Completes Regular Season

The Livingston High School varsity bowling team completed its season with an eventful final week.

Last Monday, February 10, the team bowled well but lost to West Orange. In the first game, Parker Shulman led the way by scoring 200, but West Orange had four players with 200 plus games to win, 1,024-840. In game two, LHS’ two-hander Sungi Sharif rolled five consecutive strikes to reach 212 along with Shulman. Prakhar Samaiya and Nick Paradiso contributed 169 games. West Orange won, 1,010-923. In the third,Victoria Cheng hit a 187 and Aidan Reyes shot a 246 in a close but losing effort 986-958.

Against West Caldwell Tech, the Lancers knocked down 959 pins, but West Caldwell Tech hit 13 more to win, 972-959. Cheng’s 198, Reyes’ 182, and Sharif’s 191 were the better games for LHS. Shulman rolled seven consecutive strikes for a 254, which he followed with a 212.

Livingston, the number five seed in Section North 1, Group 4, next faced Passaic High School on Wednesday, February 12. Sharif’s 192, Cheng’s 181, Reyes’ 203, and Shulman’s 209, 199 led the way to the Livingston two game sweep.

The team journeyed to Bowler’s City in Hackensack on Thursday, February 13, to play the number four seeded Hackensack High School. Livingston was consistent in the first game with Sharif’s 160, Paradiso at 175, Cheng’s 168, Reyes’ 177, and Shulman at 183. Hackensack edged out the Lancers, 888-863. The second game was all Livingston, with Paradiso’s 181, Sharif’s 213, and Reyes’ 208. The Lancers won, 942-845. Livingston rolled well in the third game as Cheng shot a 184, Shulman a 193 and Reyes posted a 212. However, John James’ 223 and Joey Parrilli’s 11 strikes in a row were too much to overcome, and the Lancers were eliminated 962-897.

The Lancers knocked down more pins for the day, but Hackensack’s two-game win out of three were all they needed. The Livingston team finished its season with an 8-10 record.
