A Livingston Police officer interrupted an attempted vehicle burglary while on early morning patrol last week.
While on patrol at 3:18 a.m. on Thursday, February 13, a Livingston Police officer observed a dark colored SUV on Knollwood Drive with its brake lights illuminated. As the officer got close to the SUV, a black Audi Q5, he saw an individual running from a parkedmotor vehicle and jumping into the Audi SUV.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver of the vehicle failed to stop. After a short pursuit, the suspect vehicle was last seen entering Route 280 eastbound from Laurel Avenue.
Upon returning to the scene it was confirmed that it had been a motor vehicle burglary attempt on a BMW M3 3401. The homeowner stated that the vehicle was unlocked, but the key was not in the vehicle.
The Livingston Detective Bureau is investigating the matter.
