Livingston Fire Department Responds To Multiple Crashes

The Livingston Fire Department (LFD) responded to a number of calls this past week, including multiple motor vehicle accidents and a gas leak.

Motor Vehicle Accidents

On Wednesday, April 2, a vehicle drove into Bottle King, located at 343 West Mt. Pleasant Avenue, causing damage to the building’s exterior walls and windows.

Above, on Thursday, April 3, a vehicle was knocked onto its side on South Livingston Avenue, near the intersection with Bryant Drive. After removing the driver and a child through the car’s windshield, the firefighters remained on standby as the vehicle was turned upright. Fire Department

(Continued from Page A-1) The vehicle was removed and the property owners plan to make repairs on the building.

There was also a motor vehicle accident on North Livingston Avenue and Bryant Drive on Thursday, April 3.Avehicle was turned onto its side with occupants stuck inside. The LFD was able to stabalize the vehicle and removed a female driver and young son through the car’s windshield. Firefighters were on standby as the vehicle was turned upright. The victims were checked by Emergency Medical Services but refused medical attention.

Truck Fire

On Tuesday, April 1, the fire department received a report of a truck fire on the Route 280 overpass above North Livingston Avenue. Upon arrival, the firefighters found a 45 foot box truck fully engulfed in flames. LFD assisted the Roseland Fire Department in extinguishing the fire.

Gas Leaks

The LFD received a report of a gas odor at 348 East Cedar Street on Monday, April 7. Upon arrival, no readings were found when using the department’s gas meters. The building’s manager was advised.

On Monday,April 7, a gas leak in the furnace room at 5 Largo Lane was reported. Upon arrival, the firefighters used the department’s gas meters, however, no readings were found. Both the homeowner and PSE&G were advised.

Burning Odor

A burning odor was reported near the stock room at the Livingston Mall’s Lens Crafters on Tuesday, April 1. Upon arrival, the LFD discovered an overheated breaker had tripped. The store manager was advised to have an electrician respond.

Water Leaking

On Sunday, April 6, the LFD received a report of water leaking into an electrical box at 405 Eisenhower Parkway. Upon arrival, the firefighters shut off the building’s power and had the owner contact an electrician.

The residents at 16 Evergreen Drive reported a problem with the residence’s boiler. Upon arrival, the LFD checked the unit and found no issues.

Alarm Transmissions 

On Monday, April 1, the fire alarm at 1 Lafayette Drive was activated duer to a contractor working in the residence.

The fire alarm at 348 East Cedar Street’s elevator was activated on Friday, April 4. Upon arrival,, the LFD attempted to silence the alarm, but it would not be silenced. The firefighters had the building’s management contact the alarm compay.

On Monday, April 7, the water flow alarm at 120 DorsaAvenue was activated due to a sprinkler contractor working on the scene.

The fire alarm at 104 Drosa Avenue was activated on Friday, April 4. The building’s owner was notified to replace the smoke detector.

The fire alarm at 301 South Livingston Avenue was activcated on Sunday, April 6, as a result of water leaking from the roof and into the fire alarm panel. The property manager was notified.

On Monday, April 7, the fire alarm at 123 East Mc-Clellan Avenue was activated as a result of dust from construction.
