Fire Department Responds to Serious Accident

The Livingston Fire Department responded to a number of calls between Wednesday, March 1, and Saturday, March 4.

Vehicles

A motor vehicle accident at the intersection of South Orange Avenue and John F. Kennedy Parkway caused a traffic light to come down on Friday. Fire officials responded and found the vehicle on its roof upon arrival.

The next day, fire officials assisted Livingston Police Department with a tractor-trailer stuck in mud at 200 South Orange Avenue. The vehicle was removed and towed.

There was a report of a vehicle fire in the area of West Northfield Road on Thursday, March 2. Firefighters checked the area and did not find (Continued on Page A-6) any issues.

False Alarms

The resident of 3 Hemlock Road reported a gas odor in the home on Saturday, March 4. Fire officials arrived and found no issues.

That same day, two fire alarm transmissions were activated at Livingston Mall and 310 Eisenhower Parkway. No problems were found.

The transmission was activated in error at 644 W. Mt. Pleasant Avenue on Wednesday, March 1. There were no problems found and systems were reset.

A fire alarm transmission was activated as a result of dust at 2100 Jubilee Court on Thursday, March 2. The next day, at 18 Surrey Lane, construction activated the home’s fire alarm transmission. The system was reset prior to fire officials’ arrival.
