Fire Department Responds To Two-Car Crash

The Livingston Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday, March 14, at Route 10 and Eisenhower Parkway.

One vehicle was reportedly airborne and overturned in the parking lot of the former Olive Garden. It landed upright with no entrapment. Fire officials were on standby until Emergency Medical Services arrived on scene.

At 8:50 a.m., Livingston police officers arrived and found a 2021 Honda Civic disabled in the parking lot of277 Eisenhower Parkway with extensive damage and a 2017 Infiniti QX60 disabled at the intersection.

An investigation revealed that the driver of the Honda Civic, an 82-year-oldmale out ofWest Orange, was traveling on W, Mount Pleasant Avenue and went through the intersection’s red light, hitting the 2017 Infiniti QX60, driven by a 30-yearold female out ofWest Orange.

Two individuals were brought to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Honda Civic was issued several summonses for the crash.

Appliance Issues

The carbon monoxide (CO) alarm unitinside 158 West Northfield Road was found to have an end of life alarm on Thursday,March9. Officials fromPublic Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) arrived on scene.

The next day, there was a report of a smoking appliance at 45 South Livingston Avenue. Fire officials found an issue with the refrigerator and shut the unit down.

Residents of 317 Edmonton Court contacted the fire department with concerns of a burning odor on Saturday, March 11.

The smell’s source was found in the furnace. Officials advised the homeowner to have the furnace inspected as soon as the unit’s power was secured.

About a foot of water was found in the basement of 36 Burnet Street on Saturday. Fire officials found an issue with the sump pump and the department placed a pump in service.

False Alerts

A fire alarm transmission was activated by dust from construction work at 17 Camelot Drive on Wednesday, March 8.

The fire alarm transmission activated twice due to a system malfunction at 24 E. Northfield Road on Thursday, March 9. Officials checked the building’s exterior.

The fire alarm and smoke detector at 1000 Town Center Way were activated in the stairwell on Sunday, March 12. No problems were found by fire officials.
