Join Maestro Anthony LaGruth and the Livingston Symphony Orchestra (LSO) for “Atmospheres,” the fourth concert of the 2023-2024 season, on Saturday, April 27. The program honors LSO “forever cellist,” Tammy Tobitsch. Highlights include works by Claude Debussy and Joaquin Turina, a lyrical piece guided by New Jersey Symphony Orchestra clarinetist Andrew Lamy, and a world premiere written by 18-year-old Kush Tailor.Tobitsch has been a member of the Livingston Symphony Orchestra since her graduation from Grove City College in the early 2000s.“She made lifelong friends from childhood and throughout her very full life which included many interests and commitments,” said LSO publicity manager Jilda Sidebottom. “Dedicated and fashionably late to Tuesday night LSO rehearsals, Tobitsch arrived with a rolling suitcase full of music and her cello. A volunteer librarian, she constantly had a smile on her face. Her stand partners always appreciated her great sense of humor and positivity. In addition to her love of her family, friends, and being a fine cellist, she loved traveling, tall ships, baking, and the New York Rangers. In her free time, she adopted needy dogs and cats from animal shelters. She was truly an angel among us all.”Tobitsch’s friend, clarinetist Andrew Lamy of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, leads the LSO string section as soloist in a reorchestration of Gary Pratt’s “Pasture Songs.” Lamy performed on the musical soundtrack of the 2002 film “Pasture Songs” as part of the Halcyon Trio. The trio is comprised of clarinet, viola, and piano, a musical combination originally invented by Mozart.Finally, “Atmospheres,” composed by Tailor, is being performed for the first time this Saturday. A senior at Hasbrook Heights High School, Tailor aspires to work as a music producer and audio engineer in the future. He has released two songs with his band, Normal Children, through Chip Dee’s MusicAcademy in Wood-Ridge. He is also a member of both the Hasbrook Heights boys’ soccer and golf teams. While typically working in the alternative rock and hip-hop genres, this marks Tailor’s debut as the composer of an orchestral piece.This program will take place on SaturdayApril 27 at 7:30 p.m. in Livingston High School’s auditorium.A free post-concert reception will take place in the cafeteria.
