HEROES AND HEROINES: On Tuesday, December 12, JCC MetroWest held two events that allowed the public to hear real testimonies from survivors of the October 7 attack on Israel. Speakers included Ofir and Rony Kisin, Hila Fakliro, and Shani Teshuva, who each shared their stories from that date. Shown above are Rabbi Moshe Rudin of Congregation Adath Shalom, who moderated the afternoon session, along with Teshuva, Fakliro, and Ofir and Rony Kisin. The related story can be seen on page B- 4.

CELEBRATING THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

Richard Samuel Bruskin of Succasunna, formerly of Livingston, died December 7. He was 59 years old.

The Livingston Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident, a report of wires arcing, a power problem at Temple B’nai Abraham, and a washing machine issue. Fire officials also investigated several reports of gas and odors, all of which turned out to be unfounded.

HOCKEY TEAM WINS OPENER: On Friday, December 8, the Livingston High School varsity hockey team defeated West Essex- Caldwell, 4-1, at the Codey Arena. The Lancer victory was highlighted by a “hat trick,” three goals scored by senior Zach Silva. The first goal of the season was scored by Dylan Gibbs. Lancer goalie Brody Teitelbaum made 16 saves during the game. Above, Lancer Matthew Zocks, #10, hits a slapshot against West Essex-Caldwell. Rhona (Shaw) Jordan, 95, died peacefully on December 3, 2023. Born and raised in Newark, NJ, she was a resident of Livingston, NJ, for 60 years before moving to Boca Raton, FL, over four years ago. Rhona was happily married to the late Irwin Jordan for 65 years.

Joan Kellett, a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt, was born Joan Rita Weiselberg on April 15, 1937. She passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at her residence in Somerset, NJ.

Margaret Lilien, 99, of Livingston, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on December 2,2023, just three months shy of her 100th birthday Bom in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Margaret eventually moved to Livingston in 1970, where she wouldresideforover50years. She married the love of her life, Edward Lilien (of blessed memory), on August 24, 1944. The two had a beautiful life together, full of happy times and many precious memories.

Coleman Jacob Leff of Livingston, NJ and Harvey Cedars, NJ passed away on December 6, peacefully in the hospital. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

Tyler A. Reid of Robins, Iowa, formerly of Livingston, died Monday, November 27, at the age of 21.

On Saturday, December 2, former Livingston resident Phyllis Hundley died at age 77.
