Allan Black Dies at 88
Al, known as “Big Al,” was an unforgettable man! An accountant by trade, his life was defined by his love of numbers, always in search of the next great deal or garage sale, and a fierce dedication to his family. A veteran of the Army during peacetime, he fondly remembered his days in service.
He married his love, Helen Black, on January 18, 1958. They moved to Livingston, NJ, from the Bronx in 1970.
It was his family that he was most proud of, and he looked to find any reason to be with them, to celebrate the holidays and cherished times, to share life milestones, or just to talk. He leaves a massive and indelible footprint on those lives he touched.
Mr. Black is survived by his sons, Steven and Ira; his daughterin- law Joanne; his grandchildren Stephanie and her husband Dan, Rachel, and Joseph; and his greatgrandchildren Jackson and Rowan.
A service was held on Monday, October 23, at Menorah Chapels in Union, NJ.
There was a Shiva service on Monday, October 23.
Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association or the Veteran’s Association in his honor.
