Gloria F. David
She was born in Pampanga, Philippines on March 27, 1937 and her earliest memories were of the Japanese occupation during WWII. Gloria graduated from Centro Escolar University in Manila in 1959 with a degree in education and she taught home economics at a public school for several years.
She moved to the United States in 1973 and worked as an accounting clerk for Drake’s Bakery, Exxon, SPX, Atlantic Design, and Burrelles, before retiring in 1998 when her first grandchild was born.
Gloria loved spending time with her grandchildren, traveling with her children and her siblings, staying in Atlantic City and Las Vegas with her late husband, and going on pilgrimages to holy sites with her sisters-in-law. She loved to cook and entertain her relatives and friends. She was devoted to her church and served as a trustee of St. Raphael Catholic Church in Livingston, NJ for many years.
Gloria is survived by her children: Cecile (Steve Diebold) of Wisconsin, Belina (Ignaz Brenninkmeijer) of California, and Elmer (Hong Chen) of New Jersey, and her seven grandchildren: Alexander, Gabrielle, Caelin, Isabel, Xavier, Glenn, and Cherie; as well as her siblings and their spouses: Rogelio Flores of Montreal, Fredeswinda de Jesus and Leovigildo Flores of Toronto, Canada; her sister-inlaw, Aida David of New Jersey; her half-brothers: Alex Flores and Erwin Flores of the Philippines; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews in the U.S., Canada, England, and the Philippines. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ariel David; and her parents, Monico and Salvadora Flores.
A private funeral Mass was held at St. Jude Catholic Church in Beloit, WI. Mass remembrances can be made at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Evansville, WI. Gloria will be interred at Resurrection Cemetery in Madison, WI. Schneider Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting her family.
