Services Held for Mr. Karchounes
Bom in Washington, Pennsylvania, he returned as an infant to the village of Repanidi on the island of Limnos, Greece, with his mother and two older sisters. His family returned to the United States in 1946. Between 1951 and 1953heservedhis country in the United States Army during the Korean War.
In 1958, Mr. Karchounes returned to Greece and married his wife, Demetra (nee Pantelaras). They returned to New York City and resided there until 1966 when they moved to Livingston.
He is predeceased by his sisters, Despina Gounaris andMaria Sonitis; and brother, George Karchounes.
He is survived by his wife, Demetra; his son, James (Demetrios); and his sister, Helen Zimaras.
Visitation was held at St.Nicholas, Constantine andHelen Greek Orthodox Church in Roseland on Friday, July 19, immediately followed by the funeral service. Burial was at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Caldwell.
