Barry L. Segal

Barry L. Segal

Barry L. Segal, beloved husband, father, papa, and friend, passed away on November 25, 2024 at the age of 87. Barry spent 42 years teaching biology, zoology, physiology and botany at Livingston High School. Winning the “Barry Segal Scooch” Award stands out to many of his students as a lifetime achievement. In fact, many have credited him as the inspiration to go on to medical and other life science careers. Sometimes known as The Coach, Barry spent endless hours training high school athletes in tennis, basketball, football and girl’s volleyball. He was also responsible for heading up the Livingston National Honor Society, senior graduation, and SAT testing program.

In the summer months, Barry was the general manager at Spring Garden Country Club, Cabana Club, and spent over 30 years at Fairmount Country Club. Known for his enormous heart, Barry always sported a smile and told a great story to all his family and friends alike.

Barry was a devoted member of Temple Beth Ahm Yisrael for over 50 years and served as past president for three.

Married to Iris for 60 years, Barry leaves behind daughters, Elisa Madorsky and Ilene Segal; son-in-law, Mike Madorsky; grandsons, Chase and Mack Madorsky; and granddaughter, Tatum Segal. Forever in our hearts, we will deeply miss our Papa B: the man, the myth and the legend known as Barry L. Segal.
