Ann Marie Celebre
Ann Marie Celebre
She was born on March 21, 1929, in Newark, New Jersey, where she attended Lafayette Street Elementary School, and graduated from East Side High School in 1947. Ann later married and moved to Livingston, where she raised her family.
Ann was a devoted mother to four children, son Dr. Louis (Cherie) Celebre, son Ralph (Sue) Celebre, daughter Maureen (Bill) Colonna, and daughter Janice (Chris) Lawton. Ann is also survived and adored by 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Her professional career spanned many decades, working in Macy’s, the East Hanover Board of Education, andAmphenol Corporation as a human resources administrative assistant.
After retiring from Amphenol, she remained incredibly active, some of her many loves being gardening, and aerobics classes with her friends. No matter how busy life was, Ann was a devout Catholic and never missed Mass at St. Philomena’s. She was also a member of a local Rosary Society.
Ann’s greatest pleasure in life was her family, be it everyone gathered at “Nonna’s house,” family vacations to LBI, a road trip to rural Missouri for a graduation, or a trip to Ireland. To Ann, family was everything. She saw each family event as a blessing. Ann never missed a family party, wedding, Christening, birthday, or graduation, and delighted in playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As her children married, one by one, Ann gained no son-in-laws or daughterin- laws, simply more sons and daughters.
No obstacle in life slowed her, no challenge stopped her, and in close to a century of life, no family member recalls her ever saying an unkind word about anyone.
While we are forever saddened by our loss, we take comfort in knowing that Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.
