Shelley Wingerter Lach
Shelley was born in Newark and raised in Livingston. She attended Cedar Crest College, where she earned her undergraduate degree, then attended Rutgers University earning a Master of Business Administration. Shelley took over the nearly 100-year-old family business, Jersey Boring & Drilling, where she worked for more than 40 years.
Shelley’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, she was active in the Christ Church of Newton and the Christ Church of Short Hills where she supported the church’s various missions and helped those in need. As an advocate for women’s progress, she was active with the AAUW, an organization dedicated to advancing gender equity for women and girls.
Shelley was heavily involved with the High Point Wrestling Booster Club for many years eagerly supporting students ’ extracurricular activities. She was a member of the Metropolitan YMC A of the Oranges where she stayed active and enjoyed a sense of community and built lasting friendships. Shelley enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball and football. She was also a talented knitter, creating beautiful pieces and enjoying the solace of the craft.
Shelley was predeceased by her husband, William Daniel Mc-Cain; and her parents, Frederick and Beatrice (Owen) Wingerter. She is survived by her children, Andrew Lach (Samantha), and Molly Lach; her grandchildren, Brooks and Henry Lach; her sister, Valerie Richards; as well as many nieces and nephews.
AMemorial Service will beheld for Shelley at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, at Christ Church, 62 Main St., Newton, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Shelley’s memory to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center, 575 Woodland Ave., Madison, NJ 07940.
