Services Held For Mrs. Healy

Alma Healy (née Major), 89, formerly of Livingston, died on March 24.

Mrs. Healy was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, John Patrick Healy; her parents, Harvey and Margaret Major; sisters, Patricia Solden, Jacqueline Marsano, Margaret Arace, and Roberta Rogers; and brother, James Major.

She is survived by her children, Martin Healy, Christine Muilenburg, and Kathleen Champion; her 11 grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and siblings Mary Porcello, Kevin Major, Craig Major, and Dennis Major.

A celebration of Mrs. Healy’s life will be held on Friday, April 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Quinn Hopping Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Mass on Saturday,April 5, at St. Philomena Church at 10 a.m.

Livingston, the second-largest town in Essex County, was founded when the state legislature combined portions of two farming villages, Caldwell and Springfield, and issued the new Township of Livingston a state charter on Feb. 5, 1813. Livingston is named in honor of William Livingston, the first governor of New Jersey, who served from 1776 to 1790. The Force Home, located on South Livingston Avenue, was built in 1752 and is now the headquarters of the Livingston Historical Society.
