The Livingston Jr. American Legion

The Livingston Jr. American Legion captured the Essex County championship with a 5-2 win over Belleville. NEW JERSEY DISTRICT 8 FINALISTS

The Livingston Little League 11-year old All-Star Team secured a spot as a finalist in the Williamsport district tournament. Livingston entered as the first seed position after four straight wins. Nutley East, whom the All Stars had defeated earlier in the tournament, ended up surpassing the Livingston boys in runs and winning the tournament. The Livingston Dodgers split a doubleheader against the Staten Island Dragons at Okner Field on Sunday, July 13. The Dodgers won the opener, 11-1, and dropped the nightcap, 15-1. The Dodger record stands at 9-4.

The Livingston Post 201 American Legion baseball team defeated Bloomfield, 2-0, on Saturday, July 12, to improve its record to 16-4. The 2-0 victory on the Oval was the second consecutive shutout pitched by John Lynch.

COLUMBIA IS THE D LEVEL SOFTBALL CHAMPION in Livingston for 2014. Columbia defeated Dartmouth, 12-9, in a hard-fought championship game, which was played over two nights because of darkness. The game was stopped in the fi fth inning tied at 8-8.

THE Livingston American Legion Post 201

THE Livingston American Legion Post 201 baseball team defeated Vailsburg Post 395 in the annual Fourth of July Legion Baseball Classic held at Seton Hall Prep's Anthony Verducci Field. Livingston improved to 12-3 with the 3-0 victory while Vailsburg fell to 10-3-1. The game was switched from the Oval due to wet field conditions.

Sunday Dodgers Take Twin Bill from Staten Island

The Livingston Dodgers of the U.S. Over Thirty Baseball League took both ends of a doubleheader from the Staten Island Cardinals on Sunday, June 29. In the first game, José Martinez picked up his sixth decision against no losses on the mound. The final score was 13-2. Frank Moretti blasted a three-run home run to raise his season total to four. Troy Evans had three hits, as did Carmen Capriglione. John Henriques had two hits, and Dennis Iandolo had a long double. Mitch Harris also had two hits, and Doc Pollak had an RBI single. Sal Cicio chipped in with a double. Newcomer Craig Smith had a single.
